The professorship

The Institute of Psychology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is seeking to fill its first Professorship in Work and Organizational Psychology (openrank W1/W2, with tenure track to a W2 professorship).
The advertised professorship will contribute to the experimental-psychology focus of the Institute and strengthen its collaboration with the engineering and clinical disciplines.
It will establish an experimental research focus in Work and Organizational Psychology and further develop the field using innovative experimental methods, for example, in one or more of the following areas: cognitive ergonomics, human-computer interaction, human-centered systems design, human factors engineering, brain-machine interfaces, predictive diagnostics, and behavioral phenotyping.

Teach in the polyvalent B.Sc. program in Psychology (Work and Organizational Psychology) as well as in the master’s programs in Environmental Psychology/Human-Technology Interaction and Psychology, in accordance with the teaching load (W1: 4 SWS until interim evaluation, then 4-6 SWS; W2: 8 SWS).
Establish an experimental research focus and connect with existing Magdeburg research networks (CRC 1436, Center for Behavioral Brain Sciences, RTG 2413).
Contribute to development of the field using innovative experimental methods and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Engage in teaching and curriculum development in line with appointment level and evaluations.

Research focus and excellent publications in experimental Work and Organizational Psychology.
Success in securing external funding and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration with engineering or clinical disciplines.
Desirable: experience with virtual reality.
Ability to teach in English according to open-rank qualification.
University degree and a doctorate in psychology or a related field; habilitation or equivalent qualification if applicable.
