Overview
- The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) seeks a postdoctoral scientist to conduct process-oriented research on environmental biofilms and to supervise the biofilm infrastructure at the UFZ. Place of work: Magdeburg. Working time: 100% (39 h/week). The position is available for full-time or part-time employment. Contract is limited (initially three years, may be extended for a further three years after positive evaluation). Salary is according to TVöD public-sector up to pay grade 13.
Ihre Aufgaben
- Conduct independent process research on environmental biofilms, specifically running water biofilms, in alignment with UFZ strategy and the Strategy of the Research Unit "Water Resources and Environment".
- Establish and develop research programs on the role of biofilms in maintaining ecological functions and the impact of stressors on biofilm structures and functions in running waters.
- Scientifically supervise the confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) at the UFZ site in Magdeburg; utilize and further develop modern CLSM-techniques within the scope of your own biofilm research and through collaborations.
- Integrate the CLSM infrastructure into scientific networks.
- Independently secure third-party funding and establish a research group.
Ihr Profil
- Master’s degree in environmental sciences.
- Completed doctorate specializing in microbial ecology, particular biofilm research.
- Research experience working with environmental biofilms, particularly in visualization and process measurement methods.
- Relevant publication record demonstrated by high-impact publications of your own research.
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to collaborate within research consortia and networks.
- Supervisory and leadership skills.
- Experience in securing third-party funding is beneficial.
