Research Environment

The Collaborative Research Center 1436 invites applications for 4 Postdoctoral Research Positions (m/f/d) at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg Faculty of Medicine.
Appointments will be offered under a 3+3-year funding model at the Medical Faculty and Faculty of Natural Science, subject to successful CRC 1436 evaluation.
The positions provide a unique opportunity to establish scientific independence while benefiting from the collaborative environment of one of Germany’s leading neuroscience community.
The successful candidates will be integrated into the vibrant research environment of CRC 1436, with the Otto von Guericke University, the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), and the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (LIN).

Spatial Transcriptomics and Memory Circuits: investigate how local cellular and neuronal network dynamics shape synaptic connectivity underlying memory consolidation using advanced neuroimaging, engram technologies, circuit manipulation approaches, and spatial transcriptomics.
Brain Stimulation and Cognitive Aging: study how brain stimulation approaches can support cognitive reserve and brain maintenance in preclinical and clinical stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
Successful Cognitive Aging – SuperAger (OVGU): analyze longitudinal multimodal brain data to understand brain resilience, reserve, and maintenance, with emphasis on sex/gender differences and inflammatory processes.
Autobiographical Memory Capture and Cognitive Intervention: explore self-recorded everyday memories as diagnostic markers and personalized training material, combining high-field fMRI with smartphone-based digital assessment and intervention.
Demonstrate scientific excellence and originality; evidence of independent research achievements; a clear vision for a competitive and innovative research program.

PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree (no more than 3 years after PhD; parental leave considered).
Outstanding track record relative to career stage; alignment with CRC 1436 objectives welcome.
Demonstrated independence and potential to develop a competitive research program.
Willingness to engage in a collaborative interdisciplinary research environment.
