Overview
- The Friedrich Schiller University Jena seeks to fill two Doctoral Research Positions within the frame of the ERC grant ATHENS at the Institute of Solid State Physics. Positions are part-time (75%, 30 hours per week) and initially limited up to 3 years. The group studies synthesis, modification and characterization of nano-scale solids, focusing on photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Ion beam techniques are used to manipulate optical properties or to analyze materials.
Your responsibilities
- We invite applications for PhD projects focused on cutting-edge research in the optical properties of ion beam modified materials.
- Depending on your academic background and interests, the project may explore: Ion beam doping of photonic integrated circuits; Ion slicing of optical materials
Your profile
- Master\'s degree (or equivalent) in physics or materials science
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Eagerness to work in an interdisciplinary, dynamic, and international team
