Overview
- Through the German Federal ex situ Genebank for Agricultural and Horticultural Crops, IPK operates the largest genebank in the European Union and one of the largest in the world, providing plant genetic resources (PGR) to researchers and breeders.
- As part of the TWIN project, plans are in place to develop a digital discovery platform for cereal genetic resources, upgrading databases and information systems to FAIR principles and enabling API-based communication, culminating in a shared search portal.
- To strengthen our team of the research group Genebank Documentation, we are looking for an experienced software developer to join us from 1 September 2026.
Ihre Aufgaben
- Transformation and curation of the collected project data
- Data integration using existing information systems and established workflows
- Development of interface specifications and implementation of APIs
- Development of an integrated search platform based on APIs
- Close collaboration with the other bioinformatics groups at IPK
Ihr Profil
- Master’s degree in computer science, ideally with a specialization in software development, or an equivalent qualification
- Relevant professional experience in genebank documentation and data integration
- Experience with web-based applications using Oracle Application Express (APEX)
- Familiarity with MCPD and MIAPPE data standards
- Familiarity with the FAIR principles and the BrAPI specification
- Very good command of written and spoken English
- Extensive software development experience; strong technical understanding; good teamwork and ability to work independently
