  • Lancaster University is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Media to be based at its Leipzig campus in Germany. Location: Leipzig, Germany. Salary: €63,419 to €71,073 (Full-Time/Indefinite). Closing Date: Sunday 19 July 2026. The post-holder will contribute to high-quality research outputs, innovative teaching, and engagement activities that strengthen the interface between media, management, and business education. The role involves collaboration with the Leipzig-based Media research group and partnership with Programme Leadership during the Curriculum Transformation Process.

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Design, develop, and deliver the BSc-level module “Viral Media” as part of the undergraduate programme, and contribute to ongoing development of related modules in line with curricular priorities.
  • Teach across the Media curriculum, including modules such as Social Media and Activism, Games, Play and Media, Journalism and Multimedia Production, Social Media Marketing, and the Independent Dissertation Project.
  • Contribute to high-quality research outputs and engagement activities that strengthen the interface between media, management, and business education.
  • Collaborate with the Leipzig-based Media research group and participate in Curriculum Transformation Process activities.
  • Adapt to evolving programme modules and actively participate in programme portfolio transformation.
  • Support long-term academic and institutional development of the Leipzig campus.

Ihr Profil

  • Strong foundation in research within Media and Communication Studies, with a primary focus on Corporate Communication, Public Relations, and Strategic Communication.
  • Complementary or secondary interests in related fields such as Popular Media and Culture, Games and Play, Journalism and Visual Communication, Computational Communication, Social Media, Big Data, or Artificial Intelligence in communication.
  • Willingness to teach across the Media curriculum and contribute to new module development in line with strategic priorities.
  • German language skills are not a prerequisite; a long-term commitment to the Leipzig campus is desirable.

  • Availability to start by 1 September 2026; full-time, permanent position after a 6-month probationary period; potential progression to Associate Professor and Professor based on performance.
